Welcome to the second edition report on the macro-trends reshaping our world. Those of you familiar with EC.com’s global awareness summaries will remember my use of the “alarms” categorization system used by fire departments to designate the severity of fire emergencies.

I use the alarm system to indicate a sustained intensification of the ongoing global crisis. The first alarm of the global crisis sounded in the summer of 2007 with the collapse of Bears-Stearns and the mortgage fiasco.

Alarm 2 began to rattle in September of 2008 when the failure of Lehman Brothers triggered the global financial meltdown of September-October 2008.

Alarm 3 began to blare in April of 2010 with the start of the ongoing sovereign debt disaster, uprisings in Greece and Thailand and the Gulf Oil disaster.

The 4th alarm let loose in Mid-January 2011 with the start of the Arab revolutions, African social unrest, the Wisconsin protests, the Japan cataclysm and the Western war on Libya. I predicted the start of the 4th alarm in late December 2010 when I published Global Transition Report 1: We Are Going from a 3 Alarm Fire to a 4 Alarm Fire!

I then issued a forecast in Mid-May saying that the we should be squarely into the 5th alarm by Mid-October 2011. That forecast is found in the report entitled Global Condition Summary and Timewave Brief. But the events that will thrust us into a full blown 5th alarm should start occurring between Mid-August and Mid-September. The world economic system is likely to experience one or more strong and debilitating shocks and another war is looming.

High level officials are predicting that Israel is getting ready to strike Iran in the fall of 2011. That war is designed to draw the United States into a full blown war with the last remaining bloc of Middle Eastern nations resisting Western imperialism—Iran, Syria and Lebanon. The global crisis is more than just about economics. The crisis is more about the fundamental socio-cultural principles that guide the overall development of imperial civilizations.

The imperial civilizational model has runs its course.
The emergence of a planetary culture is upon us.

 

Macro-Trends Report Orientation for New Readers

Part of EC.com’s initiative involves tracking trends. The purpose of which is to help promote the growth of trends beneficial to the whole planet and the demise of detrimental ones. The macro-trends report identifies 12 major trends. Each segment of the report corresponds to a trend/theme relevant to the growth of the emergent culture phenomena or the demise of the current world system.

Segments 1 through 6 deal with the detrimental trends that have been in motion for over 5000 years—yes since the birth of the imperial civilizational model. Trends 1 through 6 seem to have reached their maximum growth potential, but their promoters are bound and determined to continue forcing them down our throats one way or another. The last six segments deal with the emerging cultural trends that reverse the detrimental ones.

Each segment will have at least one story and most links are accompanied by an excerpt. At the bottom of each segment you will find a “Segment Link”. If you click on the link it will generate a link for you in the address bar should you want to draw someones attention to the specific segment in question.

Each report starts with the bad news trends and end with the good news trends.

If the developing global condition is not at the forefront of your attention it will soon demand your attention. Denial lasts only so long.

The natural consequence of an asymetrically (read parasitically) designed economic system.

The terms used by the economists I track to refer to the ongoing economic downturn range from double dip recession, to the greatest depression to date and some believe that we are headed for widespread economic collapse.

Fellow Republican Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said he was a no vote. “Simply stated, it locks us into more debt, bigger government and most devastating of all, a weakened defense infrastructure at a time when we face growing threats.”

Rep. Elliot Engel, a liberal Democrat from New York, said he was leaning no because the plan could lead to cuts to Medicare and other benefit programs.

“This deal trades people’s livelihoods for the votes of a few unappeasable right-wing radicals, and I will not support it,” said Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz.

Iceland is free. And it will remain so, so long as her people wish to remain autonomous of the foreign domination of her would-be masters — in this case, international bankers.

On April 9, the fiercely independent people of island-nation defeated a referendum that would have bailed out the UK and the Netherlands who had covered the deposits of British and Dutch investors who had lost funds in Icesave bank in 2008.

At the time of the bank’s failure, Iceland refused to cover the losses. But the UK and Netherlands nonetheless have demanded that Iceland repay them for the “loan” as a condition for admission into the European Union.

In response, the Icelandic people have told Europe to go pound sand. “Taxpayers should not be responsible for paying the debts of a private institution,” said Sigriur Andersen, a spokeswoman for the Advice group that opposed the bailout.[...]

TOWARD RENEWAL 2012

THEME: Another World is Possible.

Whether or not you understand the Mayan Calendar and the galactic alignment it does not matter. What matters is that overarching zeitgeist be understood and that is theme of socio-cultural renewal.

My sense is that the events leading up to and the December 21, 2012 itself will catapualt the emergent culture movement into the mainstream thought field. The theme of socio-cultural renewal is one that most people can identify with.

7 DAYS OF GLOBAL DEFAULT AND THE ROAD TO PEACE 7 BILLION PEOPLE ON STRIKE FOR 7 DAYS.
This idea while overly optimistic about the number of people that might participate is precisely what the December 21, 2012 bodes. The current record for a concerted world wide mobilization is 173,045,325 people form over 3,000 events in more than 120 countries.

The mobilization was organized to demand that governments work to eradicate extreme poverty and achieve the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The 2012 event could bring widespread mainstream attention to the overall plight of the world and under the banner of a better world is possible.

UNIFY EARTH IS ORGANIZING AN UNPRECEDENTED MOMENT OF PLANETARY SYNCHRONIZATION
The proposal by Unify Earth seeks the participation of 2 billion people. Unify Earth 2012 looks like a very promising project.
Several large organizations that I am familiar with are already on board.

Bringing the Message Home

A college professor uses a historical example to illustrate how the State gradually employs totalitarian measures… its called incrementalism.

Little by little the corral is built and before you know it they’ve built yet another cage around us. The professor uses Nazi Germany and the vilification of the Jews to make his point.

Not that he thinks we are headed for the gas chambers, but preparations for mass detention of dissidents, dissent suppression, mass surveillance and the creation of an atmosphere of fear are all well underway. This story is all the more telling now that that the National Defense Authorization Act has been passed and SOPA is on its way to being passed.
