The Distinctions between Natural and Artificial Calendar Systems: One Enlightens; the Latter Enslaves

The Universal Relevance of the Maya Calendrical System pt. 1

260 day tzolkin

This 260 day Tzolkin Code chart is a 2 dimensional map of a cyclical process found in nature. The Tzolkin cycle is the hub around which the entire Maya-Meso-Amercan Calendrical system(MAC) is built upon.

There are 3 principle questions asked by those who encounter the complexity of the Maya-Meso-American Calendar system (MAC).

Why and how did the Ancient Meso-Americans devise the worlds most elaborate calendrical system and what were the Meso-Americans tracking with their 260 day Tzolkin cycle.

To the layperson hearing about the “end of the Mayan Calendar”, the question is–what’s the big deal about a calendar ending and what if any relevance does it have to my life so that I might bother looking into such an obscure topic?

The questions of relevance to those other than a calendrical researcher are perfectly understandable.

After all doesn’t the entire world operate by the West’s Gregorian calendar and why is one calendar better or more notable than any other.

Aren’t calendars simply tools for coordinating our activities with others and to mark certain days of cultural or personal significance?

On the surface it may seem simple and we don’t give it a second thought. It would not be inaccurate to say that one of our most basic assumptions about the inherited portion of ones culture is the calendar by which we coordinate our lives.

The assumption is that most of us don’t think to question its hour glasspurpose, validity, authority, existence and even less its constitution. Much like we don’t question the existence of the sky or ground.

Yet many of us question or have  questioned the existence of the “God”  concept we in the Western world inherit. A question which by comparison seems paramount to the question of calendars.

My point is to demonstrate the all encompassing presence of the Western worlds calendar system and its “unquestionable” status.

Unquestionable because its presence, though felt, is so subtle and at the same time so pervasive that it’s easily assumed as a “given” background condition of our existence–similar to breathing.

matrix codeBut what if I told you that a calendar could be compared to the operating system of a computer. That a calendar is a set of instructions to enable the orderly functioning of those governed by it.

The operating  system of a computer provides instructions for an exact(non-random) sequence of events which lead to the successful operations that a computer must make in order to be of use.

Let us now say that a civil calendar  provides instructions for the exact sequence of events leading to the successful operation of a society. That is not difficult to imagine.

Without the consensual agreement of society upon some some sort of uniform month-day numbering and naming system we could not coordinate our activities and accomplish what we do as a social unit. Therefore calendars are essential coordinating systems enabling the orderly and purposeful functioning of complex societies.

If my hypothetical situation is correct then the implications are staggering.  Here’s why. The modern day calendar of the Western world was fashioned by the male leadership of Western civilization.

The first calendar of the classical period of the early Western world which most of us can relate to is known as the Julian calendar. And it was put in place by the Roman Emperor Julius Caesar. Our present day Gregorian calendar was formalized by Pope Gregory the 13th.

Calendar protest

The Election: 1. An Election Entertainment. By William Hogarth (1754) One of the most hotly contested issues of the 1754 election was calendar reform. The orange banner on the left of Hogarth’s painting carries a protest against the Gregorian calendar.

Throughout Western history it has been the exclusive privilege of politically empowered males to make the rules and laws which govern the social order of Western cultures.

These laws and rules pertain to our interior (spiritual-mental) and external (social behavior) lives.

Before the age of the printing press the primary source of information for most people about what lay beyond the safety of his Majesty’s kingdom proceeded from the mouths of their leaders.

The subject class is the passive recipient of information concocted by arbitrary means to suit the interests and fancies of those who make rules and laws. Arbitrary in this sense is extended to mean that “anything goes” if one is the rule maker.

The Western worlds religio-political leaders have thus fashioned the super natural realm of “God” and the mundane realm of social conduct and order.

It can be said that if one is not a member of the rule making classes then our worldview and conduct is made for us. For more in depth information please see > The Cave Walls of Culture.

These days there is an abundance of information available and some of us have been enabled to create our own worldview and to deviate from cultural norms.

However, the residues of a primitive leadership culture still abound and the most enduring residue of which even the most liberated among us has not escaped is the Western worlds calendar system.

CASE IN POINT: The battle of Milvian involved taxes, calendars, empires and Imperial decrees. ["On 28 October 312 Constantine (the Great) won control of the Western Roman Empire at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge. Following a practice introduced by Diocletian in 285, Constantine issued tax assessments based on a tax year beginning on 1 September (in Egypt, usually on 1 July). Diocletian used to issue these assessments ('Indictions') in five-year cycles."

By logical extension then the Gregorian calendar is simply another means of social control and subjugation.

Its greatest function is to give order to the flow of the domesticated human activity taking place within the confines of the “City Limits” or the Jurisdiction of Man’s law.

Civilization as we know it means City building (urban design) as the domain of Men and of Man’s laws (social design).

I do not use the word Man in the oblivious sexist sense, but rather to emphasize the lopsided constitution of Western culture.

Those who live beyond the “City Limits” live according to ones own dictates and to those of nature.

The Two Basic Types of Calendars.

The Artificial and the Natural

A calendar can be defined as a set of instructions providing for order, timing and sequence. An arbitrarily city10designed calendar as in the case of the Western worlds Gregorian calendar falls into the category of the artificial.

And its purpose is to provide order, timing and sequence for those adapted to it.

The source code for an artificial calendar is derived from the religious and political instructions (laws) devised by the leadership of said religious and political institutions.

And that source code is a male-centric dominator model of socio-political organization. Those wanting a more in depth breakdown of the Gregorian calendar may review my report entitled  The Mayan Calendar and Dec. 21, 2012: The Facts, the Fiction and the Marvels pt.1 The introduction.

The one natural aspect to the Gregorian calendar is that is does track the earth’s yearly orbit around sun.

But true to its artificiality it does not celebrate the equinoxes and solstices and instead has imposed its particular cultural features near the equinoxes and solstices as substitutes to further enhance its self serving arbitrariness over the natural order.

The impossible to verify birth of Jesus was placed near the winter solstice as a substitute. In place of the spring equinox we have the resurrection of Jesus . For further elaboration on this theme please see. Prophecy Demystified: The Non-Existent “Mayan Prophecies” and the Real Meaning of “Prophecy”

lake-and-landscapeIn contrast a natural calendar is a reflection or mapping of naturally occurring biorhythms and cycles.

A natural calendar is also a set of instructions which provide for order, timing and sequence, but its designer is nature.

A calendar in this regard is a tool with which to chart and track naturally occurring cycles for the benefit of all concerned.

I have said in previous reports that the Tzolkin is not a conceptual invention nor a belief system particular to a given culture. Some yet unnamed culture of Meso-America has only the distinction of having discovered the naturally occurring 260 day cycle.

A cycle composed of 3 sub-cycles.

I have referred to the Tzolkin as the code map of a process inherent in the very essence of nature. By essence I mean the fabric of space-time.

I have come to view the Tzolkin Code as the source code from which the phenomenal world arises beginning with the sub-atomic realm.  The Tzolkin Code is the set of instructions and a diagram of the process by which nature at its most fundamental levels is organized. This is not as far fetched an idea as it may seem.

A highly regarded and renowned computer and physics scientist at MIT has developed a theory called Digital

Mechanics (DM).

Many other well known and highly regarded scientists including Nobel laureate Gerard T’ Hooft lend support to the idea that information processing is likely the most fundamental strata of the space-time continuum.

Wikipedia describes Edward Fredkin as “someone working at the intersection of the theoretical issues in the physics of computation and the computational models of physics”.

Fredkin’s Digital Mechanics model describes a process resembling my understanding of the Tzolkin Code.

Parts two and five of the Science of Synchronicity begin to describe how the Tzolkin Code manifests itself at the sub-atomic, atomic and molecular scales and how it’s related to the genetic code.

UPDATE: I have published my first batch of empirical research in my attempts to scientifically validate the Arguellen account of the Maya Tzolkin.

Excellent read! I try to explain this to people but they usually don’t seem to make the connection as to how meaningful it really is. :)

what 260-day cycle?

and what more is needed than the simple sun and moon, day and night, to keep track of time, if that is a need?

It is not so much as “what more is needed” for the 260 day cycle is a self-existing process inherent in the very fabric of space-time. It just so happens the ancient mesoamericans discovered the 260 day cycle and its attendant properties. My developing treatise on the Science of Synchronicity will articulate and prove the 260 day cycle and reveal the many untold benefits of knowing the thematic content of the future and of the enormous amount of knowledge to be gleaned from a system capable of defining a “social physics.” For more in depth information please visit the section on the Science of Synchronicity

well, you’ve captured MY AttentioN. Time, Emergence, Anticipating, Culture, Higher brain-centers. I kNow Good arguments when I see’em. Mayan Teachings…. Can’t say I’m surprised, but I’m glad it’s coming back with a fresher cultural beat. Synchromysticism is pretty sexy stuff.

Glad that your tackling this as I would hope that if not now, then when could we ever actually learn something about the calendrix you advocate for study. Although, in my research of the Gregorian system and surface features set upon it, I have found that what is there, both astrological and mythical is much older than I suspected, and that much of the essence of construction claimed out of the A.D. arena is insufficient to assume all religious elements as corruptible, especially some of those spoken by the teacher from Nazareth not necessarily tied to the biblical stories. I suspect there are elements in the Gregorian system itself that have made the entire journey through time and may even be associated with the Mayans who seem to have created an older version. Consider the geology of ancient history, this would surely begin to blend over all creation.

I don’t know much about DM, will need to investigate said author, but I do believe that math does hold the keys and of particular interest are prime numbers and their relation in Arabic form, especially the 7th prime. Keep digging.
