Prevailing Culture

The Beast, The Sleeping Giant and Barack Obama
Many might disagree with the assertion that President Barack Obama represents prevailing culture in the classical sense. It is true that he does not come from the traditional plutocratic Establishment base, but this does not mean he is not being manipulated, is incorruptible or has personal ambitions that will leave the common good more or less where he found it.
Bear in mind Mr.Obama inherits advisers like the CIA, the NSA and the CFR and other powerful governmental and non-governmental entities with age-old ruling class agendas.
It is well documented that agents and agencies within and without the body of government operate as government cabals or shadow governments. These cabals can cook up whatever information or situation (Iraqi WMD?) they want to influence not only the President’s decisions, but those of Congress as well.
The President’s office is not the true leader of our nation. Traditionally, the President’s office functions more as a salesman’s podium for the enormous economic forces that help put him in office. Bush-Cheney were solid and unmistakable representatives for the oil industry and the Military Industrial Complex and those two industries flourished like never before under Bush-Cheney administration.

By the way, it was President Dwight D. Eisenhower who coined the term Military Industrial Complex. The American people of his time failed to address his warnings. We are now experiencing what he predicted. Eisenhower warned the American public in his farewell address of 1961.
President Obama is not an Establishment insider, but he is subject to manipulation via the inherited power players who can concoct or stage any scenario they want so as to deceive the public, congress and President himself. The “War on Terror” is an example of the greatest political fabrication to date. Mr. Obama of his own initiative may not continue to launch imperialistic wars across the globe as Bush-Cheney Inc. did, but they will make every attempt to compel him to maintain troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for an indefinite period of time.
The Pentagon and those who benefit from Pentagon Enterprises will do everything within their power to keep Barack Obama from reallocating monies destined for war and destruction to programs benefitting the common good and the environment.
The real question is how much can President Obama and his administration do to affect the kinds of change demanded by the dire state of our social,

economical and ecological realms?
President Barack Obama may have intentions to do more good than harm, but he is up against gargantuan shadow organizations that will work as hard ever to keep the status quo. Many political watchers have criticized Mr. Obama of betraying his message of “change” even before his election. His cabinet selections have drawn ire and suspicion about his real intentions.
Some commentators have speculated that he has to walk a very fine line before he starts upsetting the Washingtonian apple cart, and that his apparent capitulation to the Establishment is more of a momentary smokescreen.
If he does possess the courage to forge some sort of historically notable change, then he can only do so much so fast without becoming a casualty like Abraham Lincoln, JFK, Martin Luther King Jr, Gandhi and others who have tried to change “the System” in favor of justice and the common good. He can do us no good as a dead President. Let’s help keep him true to his pre-election rhetoric of change.
Reforming a monstrosity like the US government(aka Military Industrial Complex) is going to take political activism on a scale never before seen. It is we the people who have the most to lose or gain. We the people are the only ones powerful enough to bring about the changes needed to avert the looming social and ecological catastrophes. The Establishment can always buy itself out of harms way–with our money. As in the case of the financial system bailouts.
The work has only just begun. President Obama may only be our foot in the door. It is up to us to assist and compel him to make good on his own visions. I personally do not believe Barack Obama’s visions go far enough to right the scales, but he does represent the best opportunity to date for the emergent culture agenda.
Our hope is that Barack Obama is lying low and carefully building momentum towards a more robust anti-Establishment policy. Whatever the case we cannot pin our hopes on one man. We must continue to elect non-Establishment candidates into office. More women in particular, though not along the lines of masculanized, conservative and pro-establishment types.
We must continue to make our voices heard and we must continue to expose the real menace to peace and universal prosperity– militarism and plutocratic governance, aka,
US-GovCorp. The current state of affairs is no accident. We are the victims of our own ignorance and of the merciless ambitions of the ruling class. We have elected our own captors, but we are also the sleeping giant.
[Update-12-7-2009] One year after the publication of the article you have just finished reading and it has become glaringly clear that Obama’a message of hope and change was nothing, but a sham We must let the public know that credibility in our political system is sheer delusion. Our only hopes of a world worth passing on now lies entirely with us. The System is utterly and hopelessly unreformable as it stands. I propose an exo-establishment solution .
A People’s Congress of sorts.
