STATE OF THE WORLD REPORT 1st Qtr 2012: World on The Brink of The ENDGAME?

It’s been called the endgame, a term from the world of chess and it’s used to refer to the ending scenario of any game; of when and how it will end.  A couple of high profile Establishment gadflies have used the term in their work. One is the boisterous Alex Jones and the other is Derrick Jensen.  Jones seems to be good at exposing the System, but he offers little in terms of solutions.

Jensen on the other hand offers the kinds of solutions we need to course correct.  Jones’ version of the endgame is a fear laden speculation surrounding the moves the ruling classes will take to depopulate the planet, reign-in the growing dissent movement and complete our enslavement. Elements of Jones’ view do exist such as the unoccupied detentions centers that dot the US landscape, but that does not mean that scenarios will unfold according their projections. 

Zbigniew Brzezinski, the highly regarded political scientist, geostrategist, and former U.S. National Security Adviser to President Jimmy Carter wrote a book called the The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and Its Geostrategic Imperatives. Geopolitics is indeed a game, albeit a very serious and deadly game and it could very well be that we are approaching the endgame in which the U.S. and its allies attempt to secure once and for all the most valuable objective of the geopolitical game of the last 100 years.

Geopolitics is fundamentally about the competition for economic advantage and resources.  A drama of epic proportions looms as the Greatest Empire the world has ever known prepares to launch a major war in order to sustain its unsustainable immensity for yet another business cycle.

The last two major wars (WW l-ll) where launched in virtual obscurity, but now the world is watching amidst a budding worldwide movement that is all too eager to expose and tame the great beast. It’s a super high stakes gamble to claim the Middle East for itself. Many are calling it the prelude to WW lll.

That is not as sensational a claim as it may seem when one considers what’s at stake, who is involved and the overall global condition.  What’s at stake is control of the world’s most valuable commodity–oil–and it’s NATO versus Russia, China and large swaths of the Arab-Muslim world. The Western Emperium is decrepit and diseased, its only hope of survival as it exists is one last hurrah in the form of a winner takes all move.

Thorough control of the Middle East will give the West a veritable monopoly over the extraction and distribution of the modern world’s life blood. A commodity that is dwindling and that means its value will only increase and they will get to dictate the price.   Western nations don’t tolerate monopolies within their own borders, but they are all for monopolizing the worlds largest oil reserves amongst themselves.

The big losers are Russia and China and the rest of the world.  What more could we want to make 2012 any more epic from a business as usual perspective? THE TIMELINE: THE 6TH ALARM APPROACHES

It’s not a question of… will these scenarios play out, but of when. I’ve been using the alarms system to refer to sustained upticks in human activity as we respond to intensifying global conditions. I have accurately predicted the start of the last 2 upticks.  The 4th alarm rang out with the start of the Arab Spring, the Libyan war, and the Japan cataclysm.

The 5th and present Alarm mode started with the birth of the Occupy movement and an increase in the frenzied financial maneuverings surrounding the ongoing implosion of the Eurozone.  I issued a global awareness report in anticipation of each uptick.   At the very bottom of this report you will find a listing of the alarm soundings as they relate to global happenings since 2007 and you will also find the links to the two reports issued in anticipation of upticks 4 and 5.

All signs point to an another sustained intensity uptick detectable as early as the 1st week of March and the 6th Alarm should be in full blare mode by the end of April.  I’m going to point out two windows of time that could see the unfolding of the time period’s most momentous events. The first is between the 5th and the 13th of March and the second is between 7th and the 11th of April.  Now if the models I am using continue to support my expectations and projections then we can expect at least 2 if not 3 more sustained intensity upticks between the end of May, start of June 2012 and December 10th, 2012.

The 6th Alarm will be triggered by either a false flag event, a mid-East war involving Syria, Lebanon or Gaza or a major economic blow to the Eurozone. Once war starts with either nation, it will spread to the other 2 and Iran will be last to be involved. We must also be on alert for a false flag event to justify an attack on Iran and to further bolster the demands of the growing surveillance state.  Fear mongering US officials have ramped up the rhetoric around the “increased probability” of Iranian attacks on US soil.

 

THE REPORT

The first 5 social macro-trends are symptoms of Imperial civilization and the last 5 are signs of the emergent or planetary culture that will one day supplant imperial civilization.  Yes, the bad news is first.  The good news is that a planetary culture is beginning to sprout amongst the cracks in the concrete. And you’ve seen what tree roots can do to concrete. It’s a slow process, but it happens. Others laid the foundation for what will enable our generations accomplishments, and so too are we laying the foundation for future generations. I do however to expect to see greater changes in shorter periods of time thanks to the internet.

THE ONGOING GLOBAL ECONOMIC CRISIS

The natural consequence of an asymetrically (read parasitically) designed economic system that has reached its saturation point.

TREND: Imploding Economic System

Reset is a major theme of the 2012-MC mythos and it’s so pervasive a reality at this point that some of the least deluded mainstreamers can’t help, but use zeitgeist terminology. See headline in this section.  Europe is still on the brink of a major meltdown as a Greek default seems likelier that ever.  And then factor for major, unresolved and growing problems in Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

In fact every major European nation except for Germany is bankrupt.   Every “solution” put forth by leaders is a either a band-aid or a “kick the can down the road” approach.  Once the Eurozone falters its reverberations will be felt around the world.  The looming war with Iran and Syria may be seen as last a ditch effort to salvage the Western Finance/Power system. Make no mistake about it the System has been on life support (printing money out of thin air) since the Fall of 2008.

ECONOMIC RECOVERY? WHAT RECOVERY?
Reporting it doesn’t make it so. In fact, it’s more illusion than fact, but that doesn’t surprise half of US households impoverished or bordering on it, according to recent US Census data.  Nor are independent analysts and economists fooled. Last summer, economist Richard Wolff called “so-called economic ‘recovery’ since mid-2009….chiefly hype, a veneer of good news (benefiting corporations and elitists) to disguise and minimize the awful underlying economic realities…..”

WHY OUR CURRENCY WILL FAIL and WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT
This report lays out the case that the US is irretrievably down the rabbit hole of deficits and debt, and that, even if there were endless natural resources of increasing quality available at this point, servicing the debt loads and liabilities of the nation will require both austerity and a pretty serious fall in living standards for most people.  Of course, the age of cheap oil is over. And as Jim Puplava says, the oil price is the new Fed funds rate, meaning that it is now the price of oil that sets the pace of economic movement, not interest rates established by the Fed.

TREND: Imperial Violence, Rape and Pillage Crusades

Wars and Rumors of War:
Iraq and Libya are smoldering ruins rife with sectarian violence; Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and Sudan are under fire and Iran, Lebanon, Gaza and Syria are in the cross hairs.  All signs point to war on Syria, Gaza, Lebanon and Iran as early as March. Spring seems to be a good time to start wars in the Middle East. Libya and Iraq were attacked in the spring.

The “Arab Spring” is being fomented by Western Powers in Syria for the same reasons it was fomented In Libya and Egypt. Their leaders were not Western puppets. Mubarak was semi-allied, but he was unwilling to support an attack against Iran. Western Powers have Saudi Arabia and Bahrain where they want them so they are allowing their regimes to crush the opposition.

Barring any unforeseen events, such as a popular uprising to stop the war then I expect to see the start of open fire hostilities between March 5th and April 11th. It’s likely that war starts first with Syria; Gaza is attacked about the same time or vice verse and then shortly thereafter Iran is attacked.

THE ENVIRONMENT

TREND: The health of the environment is in decline across the board.

There is no change in this trend and there won’t be until honorable people are creating and implementing sane, compassionate and sustainable eco-econo-socio policies.  The UN recently issued a report on the lack of sustainable principles within government policy and it came up with 56 recommendations. They are well aware that business as usual is a literal dead end road, but every recommendation uses the word “should”.

Meaning that the UN has no power to enforce and oblige governments to do what is right, ecologically sound and socially just.  It is therefore our job to create the exo-establishment organization needed to counter balance and reform Govcorp. The UN is Govcorp’s creation so that means it’s an institution for and by Govcorps. And that’s why we need our United Citizens Assembly. An agency that would be truly for and by the People.

JAPAN’S ONGOING NUCLEAR CATASTROPHE

A society built on predation and exploitation can last only so long. The first four trends coupled with a socio-economic policy of profit at any cost will generate socio-economic imbalances, physical sickness, mental confusion and emotional dysfunction.

When a critical mass is reached revolutions ignite, lawlessness breaks out, epidemics rage and as a result nations and even civilizations become ripe for collapse. Collapse is not a bad thing, in fact it’s needed for there is no renewal without it and nature commands that there be both. TREND: The Great Political Awakening

 The Convergence and Mobilization of Social Betterment Movements.

It’s the deep of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and that means that Occupy and other political movements are currently in semi-hibernation. They are regrouping to go to the next level of effective action. Greece continues to see sporadic protests and strikes.  A resurgence of Egyptian resistance was brutally beaten back in late November… the work is far from over.   In the southern hemisphere Chile’s students are leading the fight for equality.

Elsewhere the Arab Spring is still simmering in places like Bahrain and Yemen. Please note that foreign intervention with regard to protest movements in the Middle East is limited to unaligned regimes. Western powers are currently comfortable with the regimes in Egypt, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and that is why you don’t see an escalation in those countries. Syrian unrest is being spurred by Western interests for the same reasons it was spurred in Libya and that is to bring it under the control of Western power.

State of the Occupy

If you’re familiar with EC.com then you might know that I believe that the Occupy movement represents the leading edge of emergent culture movement. if you are not familiar then please review A Citizens Assembly: From Occupy Movement to a Permanent Political Force. We need a better name for the Occupy movement if we want greater appeal. Nevertheless there is a movement afoot and as mentioned its pulled back due to winter conditions and very heavy handed police tactics.

Expect a resurgence as spring approaches and as the intensity scales practically obligate more and more people to get involved.  Chris Hedges, whom some consider to be the de facto voice of the Occupy movement has written a controversial piece on the appearance of the Anarchist “Black Bloc” within the movement and its potential to weaken Occupy due to its violent tactics.  Also included is a rebuttal to Hedges’ piece.

THE CANCER IN OCCUPY BY CHRIS HEDGES
The Black Bloc anarchists, who have been active on the streets in Oakland and other cities, are the cancer of the Occupy movement. The presence of Black Bloc anarchists—so named because they dress in black, obscure their faces, move as a unified mass, seek physical confrontations with police and destroy property—is a gift from heaven to the security and surveillance state.

The Occupy encampments in various cities were shut down precisely because they were nonviolent. They were shut down because the state realized the potential of their broad appeal even to those within the systems of power. They were shut down because they articulated a truth about our economic and political system that cut across political and cultural lines. And they were shut down because they were places mothers and fathers with strollers felt safe.

Chris Hedges has written some of the most insightful analysis of the U.S. war machine in recent years. His 2009 book “The Empire of Illusion” was an exploration of how exhibition has eclipsed truth and meaningful connection in American society. His acknowledgment of the ease in which one can buy into such spectacles is a small part of why it was so odd to read his article on Truthdig attacking both anarchists and black bloc tactics entitled “The Cancer in Occupy.”

The electoral process has been hijacked by corporations. The judiciary has been corrupted and bought. The press shuts out the most important voices in the country and feeds us the banal and the absurd. Universities prostitute themselves for corporate dollars. Labor unions are marginal and ineffectual forces. The economy is in the hands of corporate swindlers and speculators. And the public, enchanted by electronic hallucinations, remains passive and supine. We have no tools left within the power structure in our fight to halt unchecked corporate pillage.

TOWARD RENEWAL 2012

Whether or not you understand the Mayan Calendar and the galactic alignment it does not matter. What matters is that the overarching zeitgeist be understood and that is theme of sociocultural renewal.

My sense is that the events leading up to December 21, 2012 will catapult the emergent culture movement into the mainstream conversation. The theme of sociocultural renewal is one that most people can identify with especially when Westerners begin to look beyond their local universe.

Social Macro-Trends Report Orientation for New Readers

Welcome to the third edition report on the social macro-trends reshaping our world. Part of EC.com’s initiative involves tracking trends and making social weather forecasts. The purpose of which is to help promote the growth of trends beneficial to the whole planet and the demise of detrimental ones. The  report identifies 10 major social trends. Each segment of the report corresponds to a trend/theme relevant to the growth of the emergent culture phenomena or the demise of the Current World System aka Imperial Civilization.

Trends 1 through 5 dealt with the detrimental trends that have been in motion for over 5000 years or since the birth of the imperial civilization.  Trends 1 through 5 seem to have reached their maximum growth potential, but their promoters are bound and determined to continue forcing them down our throats one way or another. The last 5 trends deal with the emerging cultural trends that reverse the detrimental ones.

The Alarm Stages Thus Far

• First Alarm: July-2007; the collapse of Bears-Stearns and the mortgage fiasco.

• Second Alarm: Sept-2008; Lehman Brothers collapse triggers the first leg of global financial meltdown.

• Third Alarm: April-2010; European sovereign debt crisis begins, uprisings in Greece, Thailand and the Gulf Oil disaster.
