Global Transition Report #3: From OccupyWallSt to Occupy Earth 2012 – The 5th Alarm is Here

The 5th Alarm is now sounding, meaning that we have transitioned to yet another intensity level at the solar, geophysical and social domains. I predicted in my August macro trends report that the 5th alarm would starting sounding by mid-October and here it is. But before I get into the crux of this report I will define what I mean by global transition.

Humanity is entering a new socio-cultural era that will gradually transform the disastrous current world system into a globally minded Planetary culture based on ecosocio sensitivity, gender balance, direct democracy, non-violence and egalitarian ideals. The transition phase into the incoming era was first catalyzed by the emergence of the World Wide Web over 20 years ago. That event triggered the greatest democratizing process since the invention of the printing press.

Swarm to the Rescue

Democratization is the transfer of power from the few to the many and any democratizing process must first begin with the transfer of information and knowledge. The democratizing facet of the transition that involves mass collective action to right the wrongs of the current world system has been catalyzed with the awakening of sleeping giant, #OccupyUSA, or the most critically informed and pro-active segment of the U.S. population. The U.S. giant is slowly awakening as it is now at least sitting on the edge of the bed rubbing its sleepy eyes.

As long as the awakening process continues we can expect the rousting of the planetary giant or a unified global humanity. As the populations of other nations witness what is happening in the belly of the beast other countries will be inspired to join in as they did on October 15th. We got a glimpse of the planetary giant on that day.

We went from a motley crew of a few hundred demonstrators on September 17th to hundreds of thousands of demonstrators from all across the socio-political spectrum in a little over a months time! The speed of development is testament to two very important features of the planetary condition. The awakened people of the world are exceedingly anxious to do something about rampant injustice and the means to organize globally in short order is testament to the immense power at our fingertips—literally—digital justice has arrived !

We are demonstrating to the world that business as usual is over

and that a new culture has arrived !

A politically active and unified globally humanity will eventually gather enough critical mass to affect the course of world affairs. And by unified I mean in the collaborative sense. The 99 percent have many things in common. When the need arises we come together to accomplish what only a larger force can accomplish. When a fire department encounters a fire too big to handle on its own, it calls in other fire departments to assist in the effort. Two years ago I published a call to action entitled A Movement to Unite all Good Will Movements.

With all political systems firmly in the clutches of the one percent there is then only one other way by which the 99 percent can create change for the better and that is a Peoples Congress that exists and operates outside the established political system. A big picture schematic of a People’s Congress proposal is outlined here. I am also calling upon of all you reading to share it extensively and with purpose. Not just a tweet or a facebook post, but get the emails or twitter accounts of people in well placed positions who can in turn show it to others.

We have a planetary emergency of epic proportions at our doorstep and what are you doing about it? Posting on Facebook and tweeting is the least you can do… big deal ! Go to an occupy event and carry a message and/or get involved on yet another level. As you can see things are not going to get better by themselves. Salvaging our planet and our children’s future from the strangle hold of the current world system is not a spectator sport!

Your life may be cushy, no bombs falling on your neighborhood, you may still have a job, you may eat heartily every day and your open space is still green, so you’ve got a nice little piece of the pie—congratulations ! If you’ve got a lot going for you then you may even think you’re really smart and even consider yourself a “good” person. Here is question for you. What would a smart and “good” person do with the information shared in this article and on the emergent culture website?

Our collective problems can only be addressed collectively. What are you waiting for?

The Day the Earth Stood Still?

A secure foothold into the new human era will be marked once politically themed global events become effective and common place tactics in our effort to create change. According to the site 15-Oct.net there were over 1000 Oct15 events in 87 countries. But there are 196 “legally recognized” countries in the world.

Eighty-seven is not even half. We’ve got a ways to go, but at the pace of Occupy we could very well see over 75% of countries involved in the occupy movement by the start summer of next year and the December 21st, 2012 event could see observances in every country.

Nationally scaled general strikes are nothing new, but they have yet to happen in the US and at the global level. A globally scaled general strike could be the deeper mythos underlying the story of the Day the Earth Stood Still. A globally scaled general strike or demonstration would be as close as we could get to such a metaphor and it would be for the same cause sought by the main characters of the movie—to end the violent and life suffocating madness of the Current World System.

This now bring us to the question of December 21st, 2012. Millions of people around the world are anticipating that date and it promises to be the greatest social event in the history of humankind. December 21st 2012 is fundamentally not about the Maya and their calendar system. The Maya Long Count cycle of 5125.25 years does end on that date, but what is significant is the ending and starting of cycles and it’s not just any cycle. December 21st, 2012 is about the end of an age as marked by the earth’s precessional cycle of 25, 770.1 years to be most exact.

The approach of, and the entrance into cyclical renewal is always marked by signifying changes and the changes are proportional to the magnitude of the cycle in question.

For example Ice age cycles bring long lasting, widespread and intense cold for much of the planet. The solar cycle brings intense cold for proportionately smaller regions of the planet and for shorter periods of time. The day cycle brings warmth during the day and coolness at night. The transitional changes of each cycle are proportionate to length of the cycle in question. The short gestational cycle of a mouse develops a smallish organism. The longer gestational cycle of a human being creates a medium sized creature and that of whale develops a super sized one. So too do the cycles of time as mapped by the ancient Mesoamericans bring with their respective closure and restart junctures, events of proportionate magnitude.

The ancient Mesoamericans were unrivaled adepts at detecting, tracking and mapping cycles and they knew to expect changes as these cycle came and went. The Long Count cycle that ends on December 21st 2012 is one fifth of a precessional cycle and it happens to mark the point at which the solstice sun lines up with the galactic equator—an event that happen only once every 25.770.1 years.

Is it mere coincidence that humanity ponders either a decent into a bigger and deeper hell or a massive joint effort to prevent a planetary fate worse than death as the fabled cycle comes to a close.

Why the 5th Alarm and what does a fate worse than death look like?

I’ve been tracking the 2012 phenomena since the late 80′s, but we did not enter the most critical zone of transition until the start of the ongoing financial system implosion back in the summer of 2007 when Bears and Sterns collapsed and the mortgage fiasco reared its ugly head.

I use a numbered alarm system to indicate a sustained intensification of the ongoing global crisis. Fire departments use the same alarm method to designate the severity of fire emergencies. Alarms sound when we have emergencies and we happen to be in the midst of a planetary scaled emergency. Every scientific assessment of the current human-planetary condition concurs with the following statement.

If we do not radically alter our consumption and population growth rates we will exhaust most critical resources in 40 years and assuredly by the end of the current century. Let me say that again. Not only are we ravaging our planet, but the sociopaths who lead our countries are causing incalculable human suffering.

Now throw in the whims of climate change and unanticipated natural disasters along the lines of Japan’s Megaquake and many of those dates could come sooner. We cannot afford to ignore the warnings.

Yet, despite such reports our leadership agencies do not have a plan as to how we might deal with the reality of a finite planet and unregulated growth. That is unless you consider perpetual warfare as any kind of a solution for that is precisely what the US Government has in mind. It’s known as the Long War. A fate worse than death would be a planet and its populations ravaged by generations of warfare and rampant environmental abuse. That is the vision offered by our so called leaders.

Anatomically modern humans have been around for about 200,000 years and in a comparative blink of an eye we could find ourselves in a situation that would make the first and second World Wars look like school yard fights. And bear in mind that the two World Wars were not about survival. They were about reconfiguring the global political landscape to suit the imperial goals (economic greed) of NATO’s ruling classes. The first phase of the Long War started with the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. Its goals are to first secure key oil-mineral reserves and the strategic Middle East-North Africa region. Hello Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Pakistan, Syria and Iran. I would say that we have a planetary scale emergency of the most urgent nature.

The Alarm Stages Thus Far

First Alarm: July-2007; the collapse of Bears-Stearns and the mortgage fiasco.
Second Alarm: Sept-2008; Lehman Brothers collapse triggers the first leg of global financial meltdown.
Third Alarm: April-2010; European sovereign debt crisis begins, uprisings in Greece, Thailand and the Gulf Oil disaster.
Fourth Alarm: Jan-2011; Arab revolutions, Wisconsin protests, the Japan cataclysm , war on Libya.
Fifth Alarm: Sept-Oct, 2011 Occupy Wall Street/OccupyEverywhere movement, global financial system teeters on the edge of collapse, solar activity ramps up.

Please bear in mind the background against which the foregoing events are taking place.

How many more degrees of intensification might we expect?

According to the tools guiding my forecasts we can expect another 6 levels of intensification between early June 2012 and December 21st 2012. The amount of change is staggering. Consider that we’ve gone through 5 levels of intensification in 4 years. We are set to experience 6 more degrees of planetary scaled intensification in 6 months !

MANIFESTATIONS OF THE 5TH ALARM

Intensified Human Activity: The State of the OcuppyUSA Movement

At a little over a month old the Occupy movement has spread to hundreds of cities across the US and there are now occupy movements in every continent except Antarctica. One of the most inspiring aspects of the whole affair is that other movements and organizations are joining and lending support.Coalition building is key to the success of the movement. That is precisely the kind of action I called for in my call to action entitled A Movement to Unite all Good Will Movements.

In order to confront the current world system with any sort of lasting success we must be big enough to command widespread attention and organized enough to bring entire countries to a standstill via general strikes and swarm activity. But size and the ability to organize mass protests are not enough. There is no reason why the Occupy movement couldn’t develop into the Peoples Congress I call for in a Movement to Unite All Movements. We have everything we need to create a political body outside the confines of the Establishment.

Serious Questions Surrounding OccupyUSA

I’ve come across a few articles raising crucial questions about the movements origins and its current management. At this point I’m inclined to say that its an organic emergence of something truly grassroots and not some government sponsored controlled-dissent operation. But I’m getting wind that there are suspicions about who is involved in the leadership committee.

If it’s not already infiltrated by US Govcorp agents then they will certainly attempt to do so and we can be sure that they will do everything within their power to control it from the outside as well.

I also found the preliminary list of potential demands to be somewhat anemic but it’s too early to properly assess. If the organizational system does not include a direct democracy provision then we are back to square one. A thorough assessment of their proposal, their leadership structure along with my recommendations will be the subject of a follow up article.

There is great potential inherent in the occupy movement and I encourage everyone to participate and follow closely. I can think of no collective project more worthy of our time than the co-creation of a political body capable of forging the kinds of change we need to secure a brilliant future for the whole planet.

From the Arab Spring to OccupyUSA to OccupyEarth2012

As mentioned earlier the Occupy movement could very well morph into OccupyEarth2012 and its day of solidarity should be no other than December 21st 2012. The date is of universal significance and our goal should be to make that known to as many people as we can. The more the merrier and the better for all concerned.

We need to demonstrate to the world’s governments that business as usual is over and that a new culture has arrived. A planetary culture with a vision that will carry us through the most challenging period in human history—the transition from the savagery of imperial civilization to a sane planetary culture. A massive show of global solidarity will propel the movement into the mainstream consciousness and inspire countless other around the planet.

The first person to acknowledge the social potential of 2012 was Dr. Jose Arguelles and he managed to almost single-handedly organize gatherings around the planet for the August 16-17 event of 1987 known as the Harmonic Convergence. That event was designed to anchor the vision of 2012 and to serve as precursor meme to December 21st 2012. Arguelles and his relatively few followers were able to do what they did in a matter of months and without the aid of the internet.

And here we are armed to the teeth with communications devices and systems galore. How much more can we do with an almost completely wired world? We have more than a year to organize and continue fanning the flames of awakening. Make no mistake dear friends, our generation will decide the fate of the earth. It’s a choice between a murderous military culture or a planetary culture founded on the emerging cultural values of egalitarianism, gender balance, non-violence, ecological sensitivity and direct democracy.

THE WAR FRONT

Solar Maximum 2012-13 is Fast Approaching

In the article’s first sentence I state that we have “transitioned into yet another intensity level at the solar, geophysical and social realms”. At the start of September 2011 solar activity reached a new level of sustained intensity. This is highly relevant because solar energy is the primary driver of all activity on the surface of the earth, inclusive of humans. That may seem obvious, but it’s the type of human activity that correlates with solar maximums that’s interesting.

Solar maximum refers to the peak period of solar activity within the 11.3 year sunspot cycle. Revolutions, recessions, warfare and social unrest, such as we’ve seen since over the last 2 years is characteristic of the most prevalent types of human behavior to accompany solar maximums.

Solar activity in the form of solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) shower the planet with highly charged particles. These particle’s get absorbed by the earth’s magnetic fields. The extra energy manifests itself in the form of increased volcanic, atmospheric seismic, and human activity (VASH). The extra solar energy doesn’t lead humans to create dysfunctional social systems, rather it agitates human nervous systems so that we are more apt to act out and with greater vigor.

Everything seems to conspire so that solar maximums function as tipping point mechanisms of sorts within human domain. The graph found near the bottom of this article helps to show how solar maximums correlate with the human activities I’ve mentioned.

Now in the case of volcanism a low-count sunspot cycle is correlated with exceptional tectonic (volcanism-seismic) activity. Whatever the particulars, be it a low or a high count sunspot cycle, the evidence suggests that the peak activity period of 11.3 year sunspot cycle correlates with an overall increase in VASH activity. And by the way we are in a lower than average sunspot cycle.

INCREASE IN TECTONIC ACTIVITY

EARTHQUAKES:

Strong earthquake activity reached a low point during 2005 and 2006(solar minima) when there were 11 earthquakes over 7.0M respectively. In 2010 there were 22 earthquakes over 7.0M or a 100 percent increase. As of September 2011 there have been 17 earthquakes over 7.0M thus far and as along the pace continues we should about equal the number of earthquakes in 2010. Between 2000 and the end of 2005 there were 5 earthquakes over 8.0. Between 2006 and March of 2011 there where 8 earthquakes over 8.0— an increase of 80 percent.

2011 is already a record breaking year for earthquakes over 6.0 having reached the highest levels seen in 20 years.

Volcanism

I could not find an article reporting a survey of overall volcanic activity in relations to other time periods, so I will have to rely on my own monitoring system. A system I do trust. My tracking of volcanic activity does show a dramatic increase in volcanism since March of 2011.

Statistically the sunspot count is lower than average for the current cycle, but its more than enough to keep us on our toes let alone the geophysical convulsions of the last few years. 2011 is already the costliest year for natural disasters. The current sunspot cycle will climax toward the end of 2012 and through the middle of 2013. Therefore we can expect all VASH values to continue increasing right up to and past the fabled date.

I am not saying that tectonic activity will continue to increase to the point of planet wide cataclysm. I am only showing that we are indeed experiencing a full spectrum intensification.

Extreme Atmospherics

Whatever the precise nature of why extreme weather is increasing is not important to this article. The point is that thousands of weather records have been broken over the last two years.
