Putting the Pieces Together

puzzle-globe-260The Emergent-Culture website is structured to

help provide a clear, coherent

and engaging “big picture” assessment of

the Human and Planetary Condition.

The Emergent-Culture platform is designed to inform, instigate and motivate solution oriented collaboration on the issues deemed hazardous to culture(s) and the planetary ecology we are part of.

Giving Coherence and Meaning to early 21st Century Cultural Developments

A new culture is struggling to be born. A culture based on values that will carry us forward into a world fraught with increasing challenges. There is however a great obstacle in the way of this new culture.

That obstacle is the inertia of history, habit, tradition and the leadership agencies who presently hold the reigns of power.

The consequences of that inertia are staring us square in the eyes at this very moment as our scientists and concerned citizens sound the alarms of impending natural and social catastrophes if we don’t change our ways.

As it is humanity is beset by problems of every sort that will keep growing until our leadership institutions focus our resources (tax money) on the common good.

The Emergent-Culture website exposes the problems by revealing the socio-cultural mechanisms that keeps emerging culture from taking root and thriving. The Emergent-Culture website also offers solutions to overcome the inertia and active suppression of emerging cultural values.

The Emergent-Culture website is divided into “six reading rooms”. Each room has a particular focus.

Each room helps the reader understand key domains of Western culture and the socio-cultural forces driving either socio-cultural stagnation or revitalization.  Social stagnation is the province of the prevaling culture and social revitalization is the mark of emerging culture

Aside from my focus on the socio-cultural dynamics of prevailing-emerging cultures and the Global crisis, there are two specialties subjects of mine.

One is the section on the Science of Synchronicity and the other pertains to the growing 2012 phenomena.

2012 is meaningful if only because humanity stands at a crossroads. We will have to make near future decisions that will either worsen our socio-enviromental problems or begin to solve them.

Reading Room Descriptions

Learn About What’s Up and Coming, Help Spread the Word and Get Involved

golden flower 235Reading Room 1: Emerging culture deals with the most vital visions and solutions to the notion of cultural renewal and improvement. Our hope of a better world lies with the emerging cultural values of egalitarianism, gender balance, non-violence and ecological balance.

Like any other organism or system, culture must be revitalized in order to offset the inevitable buildup of obsolete, stagnant and toxic cultural practices.

Our Multi-Faceted Global Predicament continues to Worsen

innovating in a global crisisReading Room 2: The Global Crisis. This section deals with the negative consequences of Western Core Cultural practices. I explore the dynamisms at work and the decisions we will have to confront either by choice or by neglect as the problems begin to hit closer to home. The global crisis affects “third world” countries much more drastically than “first worlders” because “third world” countries are exploited by the latter.

The zones of devastation and dysfunction where our collective and individual effort would do well to reform what is injurious to us and our natural world.

Learn about Your Culture and Help Reform It

mythos 287 x 159Reading Room 3: Know your Culture. Those of us alive today are the inheritors of a cultural process that is over 5000 years old.

You can be sure that what you were taught in school about our culture is a whitewashed version of history. In this section you will learn about the social-cultural dynamics that create all of the artificial inequities you see in the US and abroad. You will learn about the uncensored version of Western history.

Do Things Happen for a Reason? Yes They Do, but what are those Reasons?

dragon fractal 235Briefing Room 4: The section on Synchronicity is my attempt to place the concept of synchronicity on a scientific foundation. Carl G. Jung only defined what characterizes a synchronistic event. He conjectured that there might be some larger aspect of reality underpinning synchronistic events.

My work on the Science of Synchronicity will reveal the underpinnings and mechanisms of synchronicity. My understanding of synchronicity allows me to state that every event is a synchronistic event and that what we are accustomed to calling synchronicities are but the most obvious of synchronicities.

What is 2012 and the End of the Mayan Calendar all About?

2012 135Reading Room 5: 2012. I have been studying Maya calendrics and tracking the 2012 phenomena ever since it first came onto the public mind field in 1987.

There is an enormous amount of confusion, sensationalism and misunderstanding surrounding the closure of a Maya time cycle on Dec. 21, 2012 and the nature of the Maya calendrical system itself.

My work on the Science of Synchronicity is based on my understanding of Maya Calendrics. My work dispels all of the erroneous aspects surrounding 2012 and Maya Calendrics while seeking to place Maya calendrics on a scientific footing.

The Most Terrifying Aspects of Our Culture in Need of Greatest Reform

Reading Room 6: Prevailing Culture: Here we find the most perverse and poisonous elements of our society. The root source of our national and global problems stem from the prevailing culture of not only the USA, but of all Western modeled nations.

The culture we have inherited in the Western World emerges from its darkest realms, the prevailing culture of social subjugation and economic domination.

Why Knowledge of Socio-Cultural Dynamics is a Matter of Concern for All

Making sense out of the present and the 5500 year reign of terror known as Western Civilization.

museum-piecesWhat is culture? Is culture a trap?

How do cultures develop, grow, evolve and die?

How does culture shape us? Can we shape culture?

How did the human world get to be the way it is and does it have to stay this way?

These and other important questions about culture are the focus of The Emergent-Culture News Website.

The culture of focus is the mega-culture of Western Civilization. This is not due to any enthnocentrism of mine, but rather it is the culture I have inherited and find myself in the midst of. I use the terms Western Civilization and Western Culture interchangeably.

Western Civilization is the cultural inheritance of at least 50% of the worlds population. Western Culture by virtue of its legacy and present condition can also be considered our master and chains.

The Emergent-Culture News Website is dedicated to assisting you in your understanding of the culture you have inherited.

If we wish to create a better future for ourselves and all concerned, then learning the ropes of socio-cultural dynamics is must for any individual or group striving to promote social and ecological justice.

The Modern Cave Walls of Culture

Cultural engineering is not a college course, but the term serves well to define what the political & religious leadership of Western Culture has practiced for thousands of years. At present our culture is manufactured in assembly line fashion on Capitol Hill, Wall Street, Madison Avenue and Hollywood.

Emergent Culture Philosophy

Nature, community, the arts and spirituality was once the fountainhead of all cultural creativity and inspiration.

Emergent Culture as

Regenerative Dynamic of Culture

In the context of cultural studies, the term emergent culture is almost exclusively associated with the late Raymond Henry Williams, scholar, novelist and social critic. He is highly regarded and often cited within academic circles as one of the leading social theorists of the 20th century.

Specifically Williams refers to emergent culture as the result of processes where “new meanings and values, new practices, new significances are continually being created.”

Cultural Creatives is term coined by the sociologist Paul Ray and psychologist Sherry Ruth Anderson to describe a segment of the population that has emerged from the prevailing culture to embrace a more universal and progressive worldview on most matters of cultural expression.

It can be said that the emergent culture dynamic gives rise to the cultural creatives. Respectively, one is a process and the other is the result of said process.

Emergent culture will not be defined by the brands we consume nor the socio-economic status we achieve, but by the values we uphold.

The emergent culture dynamic roared to life during the 1960’s. It is true that emergent culture as identified by Williams is always forming to one degree or another. What was significant about the 1960’s was the magnitude of popular support for cultural revision.

At that time we saw the birth of the ecology movement, the second wave of feminism and the rise of significant public sentiments against the four-horned beast of rapacious militarism, plutocratic governance, Western imperialism and mindless consumerism.

The unprecedented evolutionary importance of emergent culture becomes self-evident when one compares the emerging cultural values and offerings with those of the prevailing culture .

If you have questioned your culture and are not satisfied with its answers and solutions then you are a member of the cultural movement this website dedicated to.
