What we do and How we do it
Putting the Pieces Together
Our news model is structured to
help provide a clear, coherent
and engaging “big picture” assessment of
national and global affairs.
The term digital curator has been used to describe the up and coming kind of Internet based news site web users seem to be clamoring for in their quest for information flood control, relevance and quality assurance.
We produce and gather evidence based articles that in one way or another supports the premise of the Emergent-Culture News Website— “Activating your higher brain centers with news that matters.”
“Activating your higher brain centers,“ means news and information which appeals to our more socially and ecologically responsible selves.
“News that matters,” means news and information that can make a beneficial difference in your life and of life on planet Earth.
The Emergent-Culture Website…
..news model gives place, substance and meaning to the torrents of information coming at us daily through the site’s organizational and categorical architecture.

The Emergent-Culture News Model versus the Mainstream Media News Model
Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President of the United States and founding member of the US. constitution had the following to say about the condition of the mass media of his age.
“The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers.”
Why might he have said that? I will venture to say that in his day the Press was influenced by the political and commercial power structures in much the same way as it is today.
The mainstream media model of news broadcasting and production, regardless of the medium, churns out story after story of selective news coverage meant to primarily entertain, distract, confound and limit our understanding of the “big picture,” while promoting the agenda of its owners, sponsors and liaisons.
To worsen matters the mainstream media model of news broadcasting with its jet paced—lack of in depth reporting— mix of everything all at once and politically divisive approach can leave us with a feeling of being disconnected, disoriented and apathetically numbed out.
You will not find stories, on the Emergent-Culture News Website that appeal to fear, sexual titillation, sensationalism, violence, divisiveness, hate or the trivial, unless we use such stories as examples of hazards to be wary of and as an expose´ of the opposition’s tactics to activate our lower brain centers.
The Emergent-Culture News platform is designed to inform, instigate and motivate solution oriented collaboration on the issues deemed hazardous to culture(s) and the planetary ecology we are part of.
Why Knowledge of Culture Dynamics is a Matter of Concern for All
Making sense out of the present and the 5500 year reign of terror known as Western Civilization.
What is culture? Is culture a trap?
How do cultures develop, grow, evolve and die?
Does culture shape us? Can we shape culture?
How did the human world get to be the way it is and does it have to stay this way?
These and other important questions about culture are the focus of The Emergent-Culture News Website.
The culture of focus is the mega-culture of Western Civilization. This is not due to any enthnocentrism of mine, but rather it is the culture I have inherited and find myself in the midst of. I use the terms Western Civilization and Western Culture interchangeably.
Western Civilization is the cultural inheritance of at least 50% or more of the worlds population. Western Culture by virtue of legacy and present condition can also be considered our master and chains.
The Emergent-Culture News Website is dedicated to assisting you in your understanding of the culture you have inherited.
If we wish to create a better future for ourselves and all concerned, then learning the ropes of socio-cultural dynamics is must for any individual or group striving to promote social and ecological justice.
Cultural engineering is not a college course
but the term serves well to define
what the political & religious leadership of
Western Culture has practiced for
thousands of years.
At present our culture is manufactured in assembly line fashion on Capitol Hill, Wall Street, Madison Avenue and Hollywood.
Emergent Culture Philosophy
Nature, community, the arts and spirituality was once the fountainhead of all cultural creativity and inspiration.
Emergent Culture as
Regenerative Dynamic of Culture
If you have questioned your culture and are not satisfied with its answers and solutions then you are a member of the cultural movement this website dedicated to.
“Politics are a labyrinth without a clue.”
–John Adams 2nd President of the United States
The Emergent-Culture News Website strives to go beyond the divisive distinctions of political affiliation such as liberal and conservative, democrat and republican, or democracy and communism. New and flexible ways of framing the human political condition must be created, otherwise we are simply repackaging and recycling our failures.
Human institutions evolve as our ideas evolve. Ideas evolve as long as we incorporate new knowledge.
We have the needed knowledge to evolve our ideas of social organization. However, one of the greatest liabilities of stratified cultures is ideological fixation.
The current social system favors those in power. They care not what our accumulated knowledge has to say about what is best for society and the environment. The political leadership is culturally entrenched. The ones who can and will change matters for the better are the people outside “the system”.
The Emergent-Culture News Website views no great distinctions between democrats and republicans. Both eat from the same corporate troughs. In the current political arena the choice for the socially responsible citizen is between the lesser of two evils.
Neither party has the cumulative will nor the courage to bring about the necessary reforms so direly needed to adequately address the injustices, inequalities and excesses tearing apart our eco-social fabric. To be of most use the Emergent-Culture News Website adopts a more eclectic “does it work” approach to the problems of current day politics.
Forget about political labels, the question is does the proposed solution solve the problem without creating more problems of the same or different nature.
Radical changes are now needed to confront the various national and global predicaments. The solutions offered by the Establishment are grossly inadequate and at best worsen matters.
The existing political system is choked full of corrupt, stagnant and dangerous elements. A broader perspectives and a more unified popular approach are needed to unclog the political channels.
The emergent culture (the social dynamic) purports to offer the kind of perspective needed to understand and successfully approach the kinds of challenges addressed on the Emergent-Culture News Website.
In the briefest and boldest of terms the emergent culture movement has in its hands the many solutions to the world’s problems large and small.
Getting them in place is the problem.
The obstacles to implementing emergent culture solutions are entrenched government and corporate interests.
Governance is supposed to be but a utilitarian facet of culture. Yet, the reality is that government has become the self-imposed dictator of what society should and should not be.
That is government through its laws engineers culture to suit its limited and short-sighted interests.
“We the people” have become the stale product of those who govern. For laws determine what can and cannot be realized in the world of stratified cultures.
“Government for and by the people“ has been corrupted by a small but powerful plutocracy whose actions say governance is to be conducted by the few at the expense of the many. This actuality of governance is responsible for the countless horrors found in our history books and in the world today.
The Public must reclaim its control of governance for the sake of present and future generations.
The emergent culture movement now has the means—a decentralized and democratized mass information technology (Internet), with which to begin creating a true, fair and proper government for and by the people.
The past is what we have inherited, the present holds the opportunity, the future is what we pass on. What kind of future would you like to pass on?
It is the Mission of the Emergent-Culture News Website and blog;
to help identify, cultivate and further along
the emergent culture movement in the following ways:
To inspire and encourage eco-socially responsible citizenship. The bedrock of emergent culture.
To deliver useful, cutting edge, evidence-based news that helps to enrich human life in the areas of community, family, whole life health, education, commerce, governance, technology and ecology.
To help identify the hazards inherent in the current day media barrage.
To distribute information about—why we do what we do—via the latest discoveries in the brain and behavioral sciences.
To provide knowledge about physical, mental and emotional well being.
To begin a forum on what constitutes emergent culture as the next stage of human cultural development.
To identify “the work” or the domains of human affairs needing the most reform and restoration.
To disseminate the ideas and solutions shown to have the most promise for the advancement of emergent culture values.
To expose the menace. The obstacles, dangers and opposition facing emergent culture development.
Welcome to the ADVENTURE……
Greetings and welcome.
My name is Rohaan Solare and I am the founder, designer and author of the Emergent-Culture News website and blog.
My cyber-publishing initiative is the result of a question I asked myself over twenty years ago, when I was a psychology major at a Northern California University.
The question was….
“How did the human world come to be what it is today?”
In other words, what are the reasons behind the types of civilizations that exist today and in particular Western Civilization?
Then a curious thing happened to me on my way to “higher education”.
I came across two books that would demolish what I had learned thus far about the nature of the culture I had been born into.
Whether we realize it or not, all of us are indoctrinated to one
degree or another to accept the teachings, rules and dictates of the cultural leadership we inherit.
In the modern Western world, the cultural leadership comes at us from a religious and secular world view.
Most of us in the Western world are inculcated with some version of Christianity, and all of us must submit to the governmental system.
My own inherited world view of Christianity would be upended by a book entitled ‘The Hero with a Thousand Faces’.
It was written by a man who, 20 years after his death, is still considered to be the world’s foremost authority on
comparative religion - Joseph Campbell.
Before I continue, I want my readers to understand that I neither promote nor do I disparage religion.
My point is to say that spirituality, and mythic lore have a vital and essential place in culture, but due to various intentional and unintentional cultural processes over thousands of years, their original purpose and meaning has been lost and corrupted beyond imagination.
No other learned cultural aspects affect the quality of our lives and destinies as do the religio-political leadership we have inherited.
In the Western world those two agencies, despite the professed separation of church and state, are intimately related and must be understood as two sides of the same coin.
In the smallest of nutshells Joseph Campbell’s research revealed that all spiritual traditions share many common themes and motifs.
He also re-discovered and deciphered a forgotten language that we,
the people of the Western world, no longer speak and therefore do not understand.
Yet, all of the worlds spiritual traditions were constructed using this ancient language.
I speak of the ancient language of metaphor, allegory, symbols and images as used to convey meaning and understanding.
In order to make sense of our spiritual traditions we must come to understand this ancient language if we wish to come to a clear and healthy understanding of where we have been and why we are–where we are.
A new and proper understanding of our past and present will help us chart a new course into the future.
The works of Joseph Campbell reveal to us the
veiled meanings of spiritual thought.
His writings provide the keys with which to unlock the wisdom and meaning stowed away in the language of our prehistorical and pre-literal past.
Christianity is mythic lore, yet Christian thought is taught “literally” when it was originally intended to be understood metaphorically. This condition causes great confusion in the modern mind.
The other book that would greatly alter my perception of the
world is entitled ‘Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television’, written by former advertising executive Jerry Mander.
In his landmark book Mander demonstrates how television is one of the greatest modern threats to our freedom and to our physical, mental and emotional well being.
The other casualty of television would be culture in general.
Culture would become a sales pitch and an unending series of disconnected hyper-stimulating images all designed with the intent to induce consumption of brands and the products emblazoned with those brands.
The fruits of such a culture would be over-consumption and all of the attendant socio-ecological and economic ills glaring us straight in the face at this very moment.
Mander’s research also undermined the credibility of BIG Business and BIG Government in one fell swoop.
I came to understand television as an instrument of social control and exploitation by those in power, over those
unaware of the true nature and purpose of not only television, but of print and radio broadcasting as well.
After reading those two books and in conjunction with my own observations of the society in which I lived…...I could not help but think that I had been born at a time when society had become nothing more than a mere resource to be mined and controlled at will by the religious and secular leadership.
I also came to learn that the field of psychology supplies the necessary knowledge needed to better manipulate the unwary citizen and consumer of mass media information.
I did not want to contribute in any way to a cultural system which preys upon and mercilessly exploits its own people or any people for that matter.
I left institutional learning and entered into a 25 year journey of self-education in world history, the brain-behavioral sciences and
the multi-disciplinary field of cultural anthropology.
My goal has been to investigate and determine the validity of my observations and of others.
This website is the result of my time spent researching how the human cultural condition came to be what it is and what keeps it the way it is.
I consider myself a concerned planetary citizen and an activist for social and ecological justice.
In closing, I want to thank the reader for taking the time to get acquainted with me. My hope is that my personal sharing will enrich your appreciation of my initiative, the Emergent-Culture News website and blog.
Thank you for visiting and please come again.
