EC BRIEF On the Macro-Trends Reshaping Our World:
In my attempts to help EC.com readers keep abreast of the stories and trends reshaping our world I have experimented with several different digest/briefing type formats. Those formats serve their purposes well, but the frequency of major events and important messages by others is accelerating.
So in order to help my readers keep up I am introducing the first issue of what I think may become a weekly or twice monthly brief of the trends and stories most relevant to the emergent-culture theme and its attendant sub-themes. I will of course continue with my production of original content.
Part of EC.com’s initiative involves tracking trends and the purpose of which is to help promote the growth of beneficial trends and the demise of detrimental ones. The brief contains 12 segments. Each segment corresponds to a trend/theme relevant to the emergent culture phenomena. Under each heading you will find the stories indicative of the trend in question.
The first segment deals with the natural consequence of an asymetrically designed economic system. Segments 2 through 6 deal with the detrimental trends that have been in motion for over 5000 years. Trends 2 through 6 seem to have reached their maximum growth potential, but their promoters are bound and determined to continue forcing them down our throats in one way or another. The last six segments deal with the trends that reverse the detrimental ones.
Each segment will have at least one story and no more than four. Each link will be accompanied by an excerpt. At the bottom of each segment you will find a “Segment Link”. If you click on the link it will generate a link for you in the address bar should you want to draw someones attention to the specific segment in question.
I will start each report with the bad news trends and end with the good news trends. Your feedback can help me refine EC’s informational projects.
THE ONGOING GLOBAL ECONOMIC CRISIS
TREND: Imploding Economic System
The terms used by the economists I track to refer to the ongoing economic downturn range from double dip recession, to the greatest depression to date and some believe that we are headed for widespread economic collapse.
